Global subsea excavation specialist James Fisher Subsea Excavation (JFSE) improved time and cost-efficiencies on 36 projects in 2018.

JFSE has developed new ways of addressing increasingly challenging scenarios, evolving services that co-ordinate multi-disciplinary resources and creating new suites of tools to enable clients to achieve results never before deemed feasible in the oil & gas, decommissioning and renewables sectors.

Key to the international success of the company is its ability to service multiple clients swiftly, simultaneously and efficiently with an expert team and diverse tool range. Its Excavation Plus integrated services package, which was developed in response to client demand, brings additional levels of effectiveness providing a single point of contact for an array of subsea services.

Some of the key highlights of 2018 were:

  • The team completed 100,000 man hours offshore this year on projects spanning the globe from USA and Mexico to the Middle East, India, Indonesia, Russia, China and Europe.
  • A third of contracts were in the offshore wind sector.
  • The largest project of 2018 was also the longest pipeline project tackled by the team in its 19 years as the leading experts in CFE and involved a 110km post-lay operation for a development in the Arabian Sea, completed with its patented jetting system, ahead of schedule.
  • The most challenging commission was offshore UK where the team successfully cut through 270kPa soils, something never previously thought possible which was achieved by its Twin T8000.

Managing Director Kenneth R Mackie said:

“The fact that we have just enjoyed our busiest year to date is testimony not only to the expertise of the teams in the field but to our continued quest to innovate and provide the most efficient, effective and innovative service for clients.

“We are constantly looking at ways to enhance our offering and have been delighted to showcase our new range of Ultra Low Draft tools this year, specifically in response to fulfilling client requests to overcome challenging situations and environments in the European offshore wind sector, and our Excavation Plus package of fully integrated solutions.”

Following the successes achieved for its clients in 2018, the team is already aiming to further develop its global footprint and enhance its offering in 2019.

Kenneth added:

“We are planning on increasing our presence so that we can mobilise with increased efficiency for our clients with new bases and new technologies. We are not complacent in our role as innovation leaders in subsea excavation and ensuring we remain committed to constantly improving on our offering will retain our clients’ trust in our expert services in 2019 and beyond.”
